We recently toured the Hubbardton Forge factory in Castleton, Vt., a small town 2 hours drive from Albany. It was an impressive experience to say the least.
Their product is stunning in it’s level of style and sophistication and their quality is second to none. The truly impressive part, however, is the way they achieve these results as an American Made company.
Hubbardton Forge employs lean manufacturing principles which have cut production times in half. They offer a truly custom made product with lead times as short as two weeks. Their innovative green waste management technologies allow them to keep everything in-house while adhering to the strict environmental regulations we have in here in the states.
The biggest surprise to me though was the upbeat, happy attitude of all I came in contact with. Everyone genuinely seemed happy to be there. Their workforce is comprised of the local population which is not terribly large. They are able to accomplish this through training and a coaching style of mentoring that allows all the employees to share in the company’s vision.
